Is there any Japanese who has not heard of Mizumori Ado? Born in 1939 and raised in an era when rafts still crossed the river in her hometown of Nihonbashi, central Tokyo, she has been a jazz vocalist, a singer of children’s songs and animation themes, a voice actress, an illustrator, a leading player for a theatre company and so much else that she makes the idea of ‘job title’ completely meaningless. Still active today, she created this lovely monster.
