3.Pietro L. Kikuta  Norma Jean Baker

Pietro L. Kikuta is a homeless artist who made a living selling The Big Issue by the escalator down to the Diamond underground shopping arcade in his hometown of Yokohama, at the station’s west exit. His solo exhibitions in Yokohama in 2011 and 2012 were facilitated by the art critic Tetsuya Miyata. “You hear many rumours about Kikuta,” Miyata wrote in his introduction to the second exhibition. “Such as he had moved to Hakodate, or he used to be a boxer, or he was self-taught as a painter. Whatever the truth may be, Kikuta has now drifted back to Yokohama and has made his base here. And he is full of ambition to continue showing his works in oil.” I wonder if he is still painting.
